No, sorry, I have to write down the basic info or I'll forget it. I do this with every contact I make on HF contacts regardless of mode.<

::No need to be sorry.  Do whatever works for you.  But I must assume, then, that you walk around with a pad and a pencil everywhere you go, so if you meet somebody in person and they tell you something, you write it down?  The Dale Carnegie course (which I recommend to everyone, it's fun and it works) teaches how to develop social memory skills so when you meet a dozen people for the first time and then see them again a few hours later (say, at the beginning of a social event, and then at the end of it), you'll remember all their names and be able to say good-bye to each person by name.  It's an easy skill to learn, and one that a lot of people evidently are not born with.
