The event has been held every year since the last commercial use of Morse by an American coast station (1999?). But this was the first year I was able to listen.  At about 0015Z Wednesday morning, I started tuning across some of the same SW freqs I monitored back when I just wanted to be ham.  All I can say is that the old mystique was there again.

I don't feel that way about phone or digital modes, whether transmitting or receiving. I guess there's just magic in brass.  Long live the Night of Nights!

I wanted to but couldn't get on in time. I also agree totally with your second paragraph.
