I have a new IC-7000 and am just learning the settings, but I can't figure out how to use my bug without the internal keyer, keying it externally.  I have the bug wired to the 1/4" keyer plug and wired to the tip and ground.  When I key the bug I get dits both ways, so the internal keyer is obviously keying dits on the dah side.  I've got something wrong, but not sure what.  The manual is not all that clear to me.  Maybe I'm dense.

I think you need to run the bug as a straight key.  I have a 7000 (hopefully for sale soon) and that should work.  Most of the key functions can be changed by hofing the volume knob, but changing the type of key used is buried in the menu.

Thanks.  I figured that out (finally) just a few minutes ago.  Your answer was correct.  I feel like an  idiot for not trying that sooner.
