I am in the process of purchasing an ic9100 and have been looking for remote control software that will work with the radio. I have heard there are some issues with ham radio deluxe and it not being able to control the satellite functionality which is one of the main reasons I am looking into this rig. Does anyone know if HRD works completely with the ic9100?  If not, is there software that will work in controlling the satellite features, i.e. tune for Doppler shift, etc?

Thanks In advance.

While you wait for a definitive answer, I sure found a lot by performing a Google search on this list of terms ...

icom ic-9100 satellite software

YouTube videos of the rig in action on the satellites, and a lot of owner comments.

The '9100 has been listed as a supported rig since v5.2x of HRD in their documentation. If you want quicker answers, there is a support message group for HRD offered n their site. But be a little patient - they are recovering from Dayton!

Thanks.  I was only able to find 1 link dealing with the actual software though.

If you are looking for doppler control for the 9100, take a look at SatPC32. It is available at http://www.dk1tb.de/downloadeng.htm

As a demo, it is fully functional but you have to input your location every time the program starts.  You can purchase the key for it through AMSAT  http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/ which will store all your settings. Support for it is outstanding via the AMSAT BB.

Good luck,

I second PVH's recommendation of SatPC32.

While the HRD satellite software has a much prettier user interface (and I use the rig control, several digital modes, and logger for HF),  I wanted something that "just works" and prefered supporting AMSAT (SatPC32 registration).  I gave up trying to get the control software to work with my Icom 821.  SatPC32 almost "just works" for me.  I had to do a little tweaking of the CI-V ID address in my radio, and re-read the instructions a few times to figure out how to fine-tune the uplink/downlink corrections to hear my own signal.  Support for IC-9100 should be solid.

There is a 'now' known bug in the CI-V commands from ICOM for the 9100. ICOM is working on a fix.

..
I observed that when the satellite button is pressed on the radio, I am not seeing the appropriate CIV command going to the computer to tell HRD that the satellite mode has been turned on or off. I have referred this issue to engineering. I will advise you with what they tell me.
