hate the little nubby

I want to add a 2M to my Jeep but I hate the little nubby antenna.   Anyone have a recommendation of good LONG 2M ant?  Maybe a 5/8 whip?

The Diamond M285S and NR22L are excellent performers. Either require beefy mounting systems.

Some people have complained about quality, but I have 2 NMO mounts that work just fine after years of harsh Colorado winters.

Larsen NMO-150.  If you do off roading put the spring kit on it and they are near indestructible.

Yes Larsen is good. have 3/8 24 and NMO 5/8 wave, 3/8-24 is from the 70's when I bought it new. The other is a few years old, Also have an old co-linear 2m antenna , 7' 1" But 1/4 wave does pretty good also and is not long. Remember, pick your antenna for what you want it to do. Then read reviews on it. Better to spend a little time reading than being disappointed.

I use a Hustler SF-2 5/8 2M whip on our 1999 Suburban.  The antenna uses a 3/8 x 24 mount, so mounts are readily available on eBay.  I have mine mounted on the luggage rack, but be careful of low-lying limbs as I have broke mine twice.  The good thing is that I sent the coil back to Hustler, and they replaced it for free.  The best thing about it is that they cost $21 from Universal-Radio, shipping included.

I'm not sure I understand what it is that you hate in the "little nubby".  At 2 meters, a quarter wave antenna is about 19" long.  Quality 2 meter quarter wave antennas (often stainless steel) can be VERY durable antennas and I wouldn't classify them as "little nubbies". 

Are you specifically looking for a "long" antenna for performance, durability or looks (something to attach a pennant to)?
