Funny Navassa web page - no creation date - or other identifying info:

http://kp1.us/

Just for laughs - I went to the K5D page - and sure enough, its kp5.us. The color scheme is exactly the same on kp1.us, and the date is that goofy 111 for the year.

I am sure the person who created this page is the same person who created the K5D web page.

A placeholder for sure . . . .

A quick bit of Internet research shows the domain belongs to a ham down south with strong credentials and a tie to a previous operation there. I wish him the best of luck in trying to get this one activated, and tremendous success if it happens to come to fruition. Given what I'm certain are sensitive negotiations or discussions for something this major, I'm going to leave it at that.

They used helicopters on KP5 - and it looks like access to Navassa is even more difficult (sheer cliff wall with rope ladder).

Wonder if they would use helicopters for landing again?

Yes - the planning involved must be something else . . .

I agree. Let the people involved alone to do their work and when they are ready I'm sure there will be announcements on every DX news channel available Smiley

He may be a miracle worker, but I think that's one miracle even Vlad won't be able to pull off, alas!

Can you imagine the crap storm that would insue if someone got the OK to be QRV on Navassa and only took buddipoles?  I know they are fine antennas, but the griping would be worse than it was for Spartly by a magnitude of 50.

Navassa Island would be a new one for me, and from my QTH in Pensacola, FL (on a barrier island about 2 miles from the Gulf of Mexico) it would be a "chip shot" contact. Bring it on, please!

If you are talking about "this" Gene, you hit the nail on the head. Hey I think buddipoles would be a GREAT idea, but only in my dreams. Probably be a LOT of pissed off EU and AS. hi  Gene AF3Y
