Worked him on 17m CW 5/27/12 at 1924z.

I had previously worked him on SSB on April 19th of 2012, and had sent a card with IRC, never dreaming that I would be lucky enough to snag him again in May, on CW.

When I worked him in May, 5+ weeks after the SSB contact, I had not yet received a card for the April QSO.  SO...... I sent another card for both QSOs and included a $5 bill. Took a couple or three weeks, if I remember correctly, and I had a nice fold open card for both QSOs.

Perhaps you should modify your prayers and see if that helps...

I sent him one of my new photo QSLs and got his fold out photo QSL in return for a 12/31/12 17M SSB QSO.
Sent him GS and a standard 6-3/4 US sized self addressed envelope.

I have more of a chance of working anything, short of N.Korea then Monk Apollo.

Any dxpedition to anywhere, no matter how rare, with any number of ops will be on the air far longer then him, giving me a better chance of working them.

I've worked ZS8 and VK0/M, with ease.

Never even heard SV2ASP/A

I have had the pleasure of attempting to work the Monk Cheesy  He was loud and clear on 17m SSB.  Two major obstacles prevented me from snagging a new one.  1) I don't have a resonant antenna on 17m.  2) I'm totally new to the Monk's operating style (he doesn't call QRZ)- so I screwed up the timing of my calls.  When the Monk's signal peaked up to S7 momentarily my neighboring ham Wayne N0UN got him.  For a moment I had thought I would be next; it ended up being just a fantasy Cry

Never say never.  You just need to be there when he's calling CQ and have your German Tsunami amplifier (http://www.dc9dz.de/en/index.html) on standby Cheesy

Do not send IRCs to Monk Apollo. I doubt that he would be able to use them. Better to send US$2 or more if you're feeling generous.

I'm pretty sure that most people who QSL the monk send more than $2 Wink

Hi:

I received a QSL Card today for the 31 Dec 2012 SSB QSO. It was a 17m Contact and now have Monk Apollo confirmed on 3 x Modes. I sent Monk Apollo $5 with my Card.

Just for the record: I sent my direct qsl card to Mt. Athos on three occasions, each time with an IRC and got the QSL from him without fail each time.

I had a QSO with Monk Apollo on Jan 1 this year and received the card last week. I included 3 GS.
