Here's another reason to use CW. During time of nuclear fallout, it's the only way to get the message through. I'm not ready to start wearing my tinfoil hat yet, but nuclear fallout is still a real possibility. Check out this guy's profile:

It's a wonder any of that ship's crew are still alive.

Let me see if I can paint you a picture of a feeling.
Sitting in a semi-dark room in my basement shack at my desk.  Headphones on, I'm alone in my little world.  The 40 meter band is like a symphony; full of sounds, full of activty, full of life.  I hear a CQ, and I answer.  For the next 30 to 45 minutes, I have a conversation with a stranger half a continent away.  Learning about his station, his interests, and parts of his life.  My mind fills up with images of what this other op must be like; in turn, I tell this person things about myself as well.  We end by wishing each other the very best, and I genuinely hope to cross paths with this person again.
Yet, all we've had between us is my headphones, my bug, the static, and the ether, and we made this most magical connection.  As a matter of fact, I've never even heard their voice.  After a few days, I receive a card as a final courtesy.  It could be 2008, or it could be 1948, the experience is just about the same.
Would it be the same on phone or digital?  For some, maybe.  For me, probably not. That's why I love CW!
