HI-Q antenna and mounting on 06' Silverado

Thinking of buying a a HI-Q 4-80 antenna.  I am looking for mounting suggestions for a 2006 Chevy Silverado.  It has a fiberglass camper shell on it and I don't really want to drill holes in it if I can avoid it.  Not that I won't but just rather not.  I have been looking at the Breedlove mount for under the cap and may go with it but not sure if it or the mounting stud (3/8x24 which is what the HI-Q comes with) is stout enough.  Don't want to spend $500 - $600 on an antenna and then lose it due to the mount.  The mount is 1/4" thick aluminium 2.5" to 3" wide by 6" long from the center of the post hole.  Which means I should have enough clearance on the side of the truck.  Every pic I have seen only has the antenna mounted by the bottom and not supported some where up from the bottom.
What do you think or do you have any suggestions?

Uh, frankly no as this is on an 18 wheeler and the pic is huge when I open it. Can't see whole mount or even how the mount is mounted. But thanks for posting.

What is it you are asking? 
You wanted to know if the 3/8 stud is sturdy enough, I post a pic of the very same stud you are asking about, holding up the antenna on a Semi.
If the stud can take the punishment of being driven everyday for hundreds of miles, do you think your little pick em up truck will hurt it?

From what I can see in the pic is that it is behind the truck cab and not susceptible to the wind of 70+ MPH.  Will the stud handle the wind at highway speeds and does the antenna need some support some where along the mast like most other screwdriver antennas?

If common sense tells you that the antenna assembly defies the laws of physics, then you need more support. It is always best to have more than enough, rather than not enough.

Breedlove will certainly answer any question about a mount that he can.  So, asking him would be a pretty good idea.  I have no idea if your particular mounting scheme would be the 'best'.  I would tend to think that it would probably be adequate, at least.  I've seen several methods of 'bracing'/'guying' an HF mobile antenna, even used one or two of them.  There are no absolute guarantees, so do what you think you should do with that 'bracing'.  Also having not mounted an HF antenna very well, I think 'over-doing' it isn't that bad of an idea.  There are limits though!  Some times the 'cure' is worse than the problem.  Lots of variables in all that.  Eliminate the ones you can and then live with the rest.
