I want to use my Icom 781 with a different antenna for transmit and receive. Want to transmit on a 160 meter inverted L and receive on a beverage antenna. Is this possible using the Icom 781?

As you can see in the manual, page 16, there is a possibility to connect the receiver to a separate antenna. However, you have to make sure that it is disconnected before you start transmitting. You would need some sort of relay circuit to do that for you if you don't want to do it manually. Switching might be done through the T/R control jack.
