I saw where JD1YAA was spotted at about 940 pm EST.  Unfortunately, 10 meters was dead, not a signal seen on my scope here in Jennings Florida.

JD1YAA is on Minami Torishima, not Ogasawara.

I couldn't hear him, or anyone else , on 10m last night either.

His operating pattern seems to favor the Japanese only Angry

Don't mean to resurrect a dead thread, but Harry JG7PSJ/JD1BMH was on Guam last weekend for the CQWW CW contest and I had an opportunity to talk with him quite a bit.  He is completely aware of the high demand for JD1 especially on the east coast.  Apparently most of the population lives on the west side of the main island, and there is a large mountain blocking the path to NA.

He may be returning for a couple days later this month... I asked him to do his best to try to get on for NA and I think he will try.

I worked Ogasawara last year. JD1BMH. Not that rare I think.

They're not that common any more, and it took me 10 years to work my first one. Both Ogasawara and Minimi Torishima are in about the same league. Not that hard on 15/17/20 but outside of that range, good luck.

JD1/M is not activated nearly as much as JD1/O.

Still need M for an ATNO.

ClubLog shows a lot of activity for JD/O. JD/M has less activity but it is active every year to some degree.

Hmmm?  I dont know.  I have Minami Torishima on 30m and Ogasawara on 12m, 30m and 40m, all CW.

JD1/O is a popular Japanese tourist destination easily accessed from Tokyo by ferry.

JD1/M is a JMSA base and former USCG loran station.  Access is restricted to JMSA military members.  It's somewhat suprising it is as active as it is (look at Wake in comparison).

Must be an east coast thing. Not too hard from here.

JD1BMM was fairly active, at least in 2009, from JD1/M.  I think he retired shortly there after.  40-20-17, ssb and RTTY.

JQ8NQJ/JD1 was on back in Jan. this year, got a cw qso with him.

I didn't realize it was a military base. Thanks for the info, Dave.

JD1BMH and JD1BLY have been active a lot from JD1/O. First worked in 2009, between those two and a couple of others, 80-10 cw, 20-12 ssb, 30-15 RTTY.  Plus 80-30-17-15-12m  /m.

JD1BLY's website says he will be there Dec 10-13 if you need JD1/O.

JD1BMH seems to like the low bands. I've worked JD1BMH twice on 80 meters and once on 160m during his past expeditions. Dave's DX tip is good news for you, Peter.  JD1/O is in zone 27.
