I was reading in the NY Daily News about how the ISS was without primary communications due to a computer problem on the station. I informed the author of the story that the ISS always had the means to talk to earth, it could be through the amateur radio equipment on the station. That amateurs always jump at the chance to talk to the ISS.

Maybe there could be a way to relay that data to NASA through amateurs if this problem happens again.

Great press opportunity "when all else fails, amateur radio can keep ISS talking."
