I'm sorry to hear that.  When I got him it was prior to him going by the numbers.  There hasn't been too many good DX lately and as a consequence it was a zoo.  I'm sure there will be another opportunity for you.

I heard him well too, but was not one of the 9's that was fortunate enough to work him  Cry
that is some antenna he has!
I did work JT1CO in August on 17m CW, but his last upload to LoTW was about 2 years ago so I am not too confident I will have Mongolia confirmed anytime soon... would love to get JT5DX. if he operates a few upcoming contests I like my chances.

He's very good at QSLing direct. I sent a card and a few green stamps in November and had one back in just a few weeks.

Is he the only resident ham in Mongolia?  He reminds me of Nodir EY8MM.  Without guys like JT5DX and EY8MM these countries would be difficult to work.  I only wish Monk Apollo has a station and operating common sense comparable to JT5DX...

I have JV5A confirmed on LoTW. 12 meters, worked 10/26/11 and he uploaded to LoTW on 6/14/12. It looks like he lives there to me.

I have a total four Mongolian contacts all with the same guy but I have eighteen Chinese contacts.  A lot of the Chinese stations are active during contests and they have amazing stations.  Outside of contests I don't hear the Chinese stations very often.  In the metro cities one doesn't have any room to erect antennas.  In the rural areas people are too poor to play ham radio as a hobby.

I am also surprised by the mammoth stations some of the Mongolian stations are using.

I worked JT1CO during my afternoon on 30 meters running 100 watts to an inverted Vee.  I did not expect to hear Mongolia at 2 in the afternoon on 30 meters.

Take a look at his station and -  even more impressive the house he is living in. That's not exactly what I expected to see in Mongolia but in a country like Mongolia I would expect only the wealthiest to have ham radio stations.

You need to take a look at these pictures of this callsign.  I believe JT5DX is the contest callsign of JT1CO.  Different QTH and a first class contest station.  Two 45m high rotating towers.  You are whining about the shipping cost of a CroMo mast to MA.  One might as well use a helicopter to bring the tower parts to Mongolia.  Sorry I just couldn't help it Cheesy  JT1CO is also an avid dxpeditioner.  He was part of the 7O6T team.
