I have a Hustler 6BTV vertical. I originally installed it with 22 radials and it seems to be a good performer. (germany to portugal to japan to equator.)
Today I installed an additional 22 radials and it now seems to be much quieter on the receive end of things. Less QRN. transmit performance seems okay. So is it just my imagination or is less QRN typical of a better radial system?

You probably reduced the common mode currents flowing on the outside of the coax shield. That may be what was picking up the noise rather than the antenna radiating element.

Makes perfectly good sense. Sounds like I bought a new radio. And I was pretty happy before. Hi hi
