Huh My TS-590s is slightly off Frequency--i.e. on 20m a signal on 14.200 will be best resolved on 14.200.1 .
This goes for all bands and gets worse towards 6m.
Should I trim the TC beneath the radio, or adjust the carrier insertion points in the SERVICE menu?.
I am a bit worried to fiddle in the service menu since there are THREE insertion points to adjust.
I checked the transmitted AM signal with a frequency counter and that seems to be 50HZ LOW.

So hence my confusion.

First I would warm rig up for 45 min or so and then I would check it against WWV not a generator or anther 20m signal then go from there. After 13 years my 570 is only off about 40hz at 15 mhz last time I checked and it has never been tweaked.

Since it is off by the same amount on all bands, don't go inside, don't apply the golden screwdriver there, for it is very likely already correct.

Simply adjust the accessible single cap by zero beating to WWV.  See the manual for particulars.

Smiley Thanks for the replies ,

I reset the TEENY TINY master oscillator trimmer, whilst using the FT-450d as a frequency reference, and now all band indications are spot on.

Why would you use a questionable reference?  WWV is what you use for this not another rig.

I know where he is at as far as using WWV but given that they transmit on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 mhz you would here it or WWVH out of Hawaii sometime.
