I worked Dieter, DJ2EH from ZK3T on 160 and was wondering if anyone has gotten a card from him direct? I know his QRZ page says buro only but would rather not wait years for the card. I emailed him and got no response. Thanks.

I sent him one direct with greenstamps, I'll try to remember to come back and post my results.

I looked up ZK3T and it said to QSL via DJ2EH so I sent him $5 and a QSL direct.  Why would a ham travel half way around the world and then say QSL via the buro?  I haven't run into that in 25 years.  I'll report back if I get the card.

You can send it direct to the German buro. You will probably have it in less than a year assuming he sends them out in a timely manner.
Thanks for reminding me on this one - I think I worked him for a new band counter.

I sent direct when he operated ZD9T and C21DL.

It was about a 2 1/2 month turn around on the card.

I also sent him one with GS.  Hard to believe that a QSL manager would only use the bureau for his own stuff, especially a DXpedition.  We'll see what happens.

I was not expecting to work ZK3T. He just showed up w/o a lot of publicity.  There is another expedition to Tokelau which is the one I was expecting to work for an ATNO. I never worked ZK3T on 10 meters or 17, 30, or 80 so ZK3N is a nice opportunity especially if the QSL for ZK3T is really via the buro.

I should write that I did QSL ZD9T using DJ2EH and the turnaround was less than 3 weeks.

ZK3N is scheduled to run from April 23rd to May 8th. QSL is via DL2AWG.  Both have experience with expeditions.

He was the lead man (recon) for the upcoming ZK3N operation.
I need them on 40M.

I got Dieter a few times while mobile, but not 40M.

This sets a new record on QSLing turnaround for overseas confirmation for me.  I sent a qsl card on March 25, 2013 and received a confirmation QSL card today, April 15, 2013.  Thanks Dieter for the great one man dxpedition and for the fast QSL response.

D'oh! His QRZ page said "Buro only", so that's how I sent mine.

Hopefully ZK3N will give me a LoTW confirmation well before the bureau card comes back.

Great news, and perfect timing, too. I finally got around to filling out a few cards yesterday, and ZK3T was one of them. I just stopped at the PO, on the way home from work, to get some of the new globals. It's on its way.

I think he was going on a trip this month so he may be busy with that. I sent mine via the buro. I always send the ones I want quicker direct to the incoming buro of the op/manager. In this case I sent it directly to the DL buro. Most of the time they come back in less than a year. I did that with C21DL and Dieter sent it quickly back. The DL buro is one of the busiest (outside of the ARRL). W2IRT can probably confirm how often parcels come from that buro.

We get a big DL shipment about every other month. Their bureau system is extremely efficient and I've gotten a few cards within 3 months of the QSO date.
