Hello all,

I would like to say that i am not in the habit of flaming someone but this guy i will. I went to ebay and purchased a pair of gs35b tubes from a seller named Tube-Shop also known as Serge UT5JCW for the only reason that he offered a 14 day return. i usally buy from qro-parts with no problems. so i did get the tubes and yes one was bad. i emailed Serge UT5JCW and asked to exchange the bad tube. he said fine. meantime after thinking about it i desided it would be cheaper for both of us if i would just buy another tube without a cooler. 80 dollars to be exact. so today i went to his store on ebay and added the tube and a really neat little transverter board to my cart. guess what i have been blocked from buying from him and can not even contact him through ebay. after digging through old emails i find his address from the paypal payment. i email him and ask why i was blocked. here is his reply and quote

"To be hornest I can say you why. I always block the buyers when they return the goods.
You know there is an old tubes and sometimes we have no way to check how buyers use
them. Sometimes they broke the tubes by misusing them and then return
the tubes back. Here no way to change them so we lost the money.
To buy the tubes somewhere else.

With best regards, Serge UT5JCW "end quote.

i am not sure what to think of this. and hate to see another builder get burned. but just be warned about buying from Serge UT5JCW

File a complaint with PlayPal.  His advertising is FALSE!

And, if you use a credit card to fund PlayPal, write your card issuer and dispute the charge.  ou have good grounds:  He sold defective merchandise and won't accept a return as he said he would.

As I read it, he didn't refuse to accept the return. He just refused to sell you anything else. Not very good for customer relations - but I suppose he's been burned a few times before. I'd go ahead and take his offer to exchange the tube.

QRZ.COM indicates that this guy is in the Ukraine, so how much protection do our laws
have for U.S. persons?  If you return the tube and he warrantees it and then won't sell
to you anymore, that is his business and while a slimey thing to do, he is not required to
do business with you.  If you get your money back, just forget the whole episode and
be more wary in the future.  If you don't get your money back do the same thing.  It is
just not worth chasing the problem and throwing good money after bad.

I can see your point--but I can see his too.  If he doesn't have a way to check them thoroughly and they seem good to him, he is saying that he can't be sure something didn't happen to the tube when you had it.  Could well be that something happened to it in shipment too.  Yes, I know that you probably didn't do anything to the tube, but with the amount of fraud and the shenanigans going on over the internet these days, and with the way some packages can be handled by shippers....

He did ofter to exchange the tube, and he did offer an explanation.  If you want to, you could write him back and explain that instead of paying to return the tube, all you want to do is buy another tube.  Maybe he'll unblock you.  Maybe he'll even give you a break on the price.

Purchased a 9:1 unun.  Workmanship was horrible. Must have been assembled by a 7-year old.  Said he would refund for unit and postage.  Three months later, still waiting for postage.

I ran into this with a loser selling pulled boards from radios that was in the UK.  Bought an item never received it (likely sold it there in the UK and made up some story about lost in the mail).  After that he blocked me.  NO problem.  I wouldn't buy from someone like that, that lied about shipping me something he never did.  Consider it just as well and buy your items here if at all possible.

OK, so he blocked you out of spite over a returned item, a return that was within his stated return policy?  And only one item, and this was your one and only return?

Well then, I'd say count your blessings.  Sounds like he has saved you a lot of aggravation, and cost himself a customer in doing so.

Don't sweat the small stuff.  This is small stuff.

I tell you, I have the same worry trading on eBay. Even though PayPal is supposed to protect the buyer,
one can still get the short end of the stick.

One gent had an amplifier for sale at a suspiciously low price. I asked how he come on to the item. He
fired back with would it matter if he were the owner for  20 years or if he found it in a junk pile on the curb.

Something wrong. I didn't risk buying it. I'll never know.

And now, more about his 28 / 144 and 28 / 432 MHz transverters --> both are real catastrophes because :
- in Rx mode the measured Nf is between 8 and 10 dB (very faaar from his 1dB claimed Nf)
- in Tx mode they are oscillating very simply
- in both modes they are intermodulating with many spurious up to -32dBc

Sure they are low-cost, but nethertheless far too expansive for that prices
And after asking him 3 years ago about their Rx Nf, his only asnwer was that every ham was satisfied with - - not a very scientific answer - -and so as potential buyer I was then directly blacklisted from him Angry

I can only speak about his 144 and 432 MHz transverters, but suppose it is exactly the same for his 50, 70 and 220 MHz ones, because the printboard is roughly the same for all bands
So be also aware of his transverter production ! !   Angry Angry
