I've heard rumors that one of the T2YY ops died in an accident on Tuvalu -- anyone have confirmation and/or additional details?

Most sincere condolences to all family and friends of Ingolf.  Horrible and truly sad.  Yet another great loss to the radio community.

That's two great ops, husbands, fathers and friends we lost this month. It's really sad to hear.

Very unfortunate. Just a reminder as to the risks these guys take on sometimes when they make these trips, even "holiday" style ones.

RIP OM

That's why I like to include "have a safe trip" when somebody announces they will be making a trip to put a DX entity on the air.  Most hams who go on these trips are over the age of 50 and aside from not being in the physical shape they were when in their 20's, accidents can happen anywhere to anybody.

My condolences to his family and friends!

Agreed. Often times when operating from remote locations like this there is limited or no medical facilities at all. We all have to keep in mind the sacrifices and hazards that each operator endures to participate in a DX'pedition. My condolences go to the family and friends of Ingolf.

It says he died under tragic circumstances.  His family deserves some privacy now.  I don't think there is a need for the general public to know all the details.

Now should be private time for his family and friends to reflect on their loss.

Details of his passing can always be announced at a later date, if need be.

Rest in Piece, OM.
