Well, I thought the problem would go away.
But for a few months now my Juno Email account has slowed to a snails pace.

Whenever I try to compose an email, at times I can only type at 1 - 2 wpm, if that.

I have found out that it is from the video ads on the right side of the screen.

I usually have to wait until the ads are finally done uploading.

Is there a way to stop these ads from causing this problem?

I have two other email accounts and, so far have no trouble with them.

Thanks

you didn't say, which browser that you are using.
but if you are using Firefox or Chrome - then use the adBlock plug-in,
or better still use the adBlock Edge plug-in.

It sounds like you have a very slow computer with limited memory. On a decent machine the ads would not hog it down.

Either run Ad Block as a Firefox Extension

or

Compose the email in Notepad or Word first, then copy it and paste to Juno.

and

In addition to little RAM, your computer might have memory leakage. This is typical of low RAM Windows computers. A good example of this is to watch a couple of videos on YouTube and soon the computer will start slowing down quite a bit. I have experienced this on XP, Vista and Windows 7 computers.

The solution is simple,  just reboot the computer every couple of days, and that should take care of the memory leakage. Or go with Linux, I haven't noticed memory leakage there.

As already suggested, Adblock. There are also extensions for FIrefox and Chrome that blocks Flash from loading and/or automatically playing.

Noscript is the main Flash/JAVA/JavaScript blocker I use along with Adblock Plus and Adblock Plus popup blocker. This is on Firefox and Pale Moon (Firefox offshoot)
People are talking about a RAM shortage, a simple upgrade on a desktop or laptop, just make sure you get the correct chips.

I've been using Juno since the 90's. I also never use their web e-mail for the reasons you describe. I always download all my email to my computer, read it, save what I want in various folders, and/or compose a response and then send it back to the recipient(s). You can download the Juno program off their web site.

Lets see, NOT XP, at least 2 gig of RAM and dual core CPU and less than 7 years old. Ads will not choke a machine unless it has very limited resources.

OS != machine.
I have seen ads bog down  a 1.5 ghz, dual core, 4gig ram machine. You keep making absolute statements that you cannot possibly prove.

I have a computer about 11 years old running XP Pro with 1.49 GB of Ram Single Core Pentium 4 and have no problem with ads choking the machine. I didn't even know they run ads on the internet. They don't show up here....

Step 1: Drop Juno... They are stuck in the 90s and are completely clueless to recent security and server updates, and they have to keep feeding expansive advertisements to the people still using it to offset the costs of their servers. This is one of the companies that just needs to go away since they've learned nothing in 20 years. There are still plenty of ad-free email systems out there that are free or cost very little.

Step 2: well there is no step 2, Juno is useless and should not be used by anyone anymore. Sure it will be a pain to import your address book and emails but free email programs like Thunderbird or Fossa Mail should be able to handle that easily, and make it simple enough to find another email provider.

Looks like a few didn't read my query.
Here is one I can answer.
Thanks PJ, VK6IS
I am running IE 11.

I am sorry but, I think that myself and others are NOT going to go with Firefox, etc.
But, I am connecting to /juno.com/webmail

Let me reiterate...How can I get rid of -or- stop the ads from uploading?

Additionally this laptop:

Toshiba Satellite
Intel (R) Celeron (R) CPU 900 @ 2.20 GHz
with 2.00 GB RAM (1.87 GB usable)

Running W7 32Bit Home Premium + IE 11, SP 1.

Is pretty fast, as Laptops go when Booting Up.
Has no slowdown issues when bringing up multiple applications, etc.

I have record speeds when watching YouTube videos  Grin

So...I guess it boils down to this, Juno doesn't care how little RAM I have, correct?

If you have a slow connection to internet, video clip ads will hog bandwidth.
