I have a DR-599T that has started to static really bad on the 2m side only. The 440 side sounds like you are sitting next to me but the 2m side is in-audible. Can't understand anything at all. Any suggestions? All coax connections are tight.
I'm at a loss.

If the static "rolls in and out" and seems to be temperature affected, suspect a leaky solid state junction somewhere in the 2 meter side, before the AF section, which is shared.

If the static is rather constant, suspect a bad Ceramic Filter in the 2 meter section.

Bad ceramic filter can sometimes be confirmed by tapping on it, if it is microphonic, which means you can hear the taps in the speaker, order a new one and replace it.
