It took several phone calls but my local Police Dept has now taken the crime report to forward on to Las Vegas. I have an incident number for followup. Some of you that spoke with me by telephone may be called for verification so don't be surprised if your caller ID says "Bedford County LEO". I made sure they understood that "Mary Jo" is the focal point and common element to the crime. On a personal note, I wouldn't be surprised if Mary Jo Mellor and the crook are one in the same and it's a man.  Shocked
Either way, I hope a jail cell is in their future. Angry

Let's see, Las Vegas the city with literally thousands of runaways, underage and non licensed street prostitutes, armed robberies and biker gangs in casinos and you really think the local police have the time and manpower to look at ham radio scams?

My bet is this report is at the bottom of an endless pile with thousands of more important reports on top and in a year we will still be reading about hams getting scammed by this individual.

How long has the Don Pinson scam been going on with no resolution?

I really hope this person gets stuffed in his or hers ass but I have no confidence in any law enforcement agency persuing this but hopefully I'm wrong.

Mike, you're too young to be a cynic, give the system a chance. On a hopeful note, it does involve the US Mail and that elevates it to a Federal prosecution level. I've invested a good bit of time posting warnings, returning money orders and contacting law enforcement from the Cook County District Attorney down to my local PD to file the complaint. Other than my call being used I don't have a dog in this fight. If the scammer cheated 10 Hams and there were 10 criminal complaints I feel certain that there would be more interest at LV Metro PD. I too hope they pack his/her ass full of jack rocks.
