I am getting LOTW setup . . . Being a computer person, but not an experienced Ham, I find it a bit ironic that to setup LOTW, you have to wait for a post card to arrive in the snail mail. Wonder why they couldn't just email it to me . . . Identity verification maybe . . .

Identity verification maybe . . .

Yeah, that's the idea. By sending to the address you have on file with the FCC it better ensures that the LoTW account actually belongs to you.

I figured that . . . I just find it amusing . . . but looking at the big picture, there is no real reason that I need to be in a hurry since I have a whopping 7 contacts in my HRD log . .

Next will be the two man rule being enforced - Two amateurs will need to simultaneously press the Enter key to validate the entry.

Have you only made 7 contacts period or do you only have 7 in your HRD log? When I started using HRD a couple of years ago, I imported all of my logs into HRD then uploaded all of my contacts into LoTW.

Once you get your postcard and get everything activated, you can set up your log so that you can click on the entries in your log and upload them to LoTW directly from HRD without having to export your log, then have the TQSL program convert it to .tq8 and then upload or email the file. It is a tremendous time saver and well worth taking the time to set it up.
