I remember reading somewhere of an organization that accepts older cell phones for reworking and donation to troops overseas.  Does anyone have the organzation name and address?  I have a few phones I'm looking to get rid of.

Women's shelters will typically accept them too.

One of our local police takes  old cell phones ( with a charger) and they give them to battered women .  the "dead " cell phone will still call 911 if they need help. a lot of time the distressed family has moved away from home and has no  wired phone in the house. So the dead cell phone  gives them a way to call for help.

Cell phones for soldiers does NOT actually give them the phones. They give them FREE minutes for their phones for your donation but it's a GREAT way to help the troops keep in touch with friends & family.  Grin
