I bought a K3 to replace my ftdx9kmp. I had the k3 for one month and felt like many of you. It does have nice dynamic range, but could not hear as well as the 9k and the 9k is like driving a Cadillac vs a chevette. The small buttons and knobs, poor speaker audio on my bad hearing just wore me out.  The yaesu just has the nicest ergo's as many of you have stated.
I have not used a 2k, but can imagine it has to have some qualities to see so many in use.

Don't fear buying a k3, mine sold in 6 hours. Thousands of ops cannot be wrong. It may be the best rig of your life. Or the 1000mp my do it too.

The challenge with the FT1000's is that at some point it breaks, and you can't get it fixed.

I adored my 990... Until it got sick, and I spent a frustrating month calling every repair shop in the country and no one would even look at it.

I can fix old tube gear but no way am I going to be able to fix a modern radio.

Get the ft2000...
