13 Colonies Special Event
INDEPENDENCE WEEK
JULY 1-6, 2013

CT-DE-GA-MA-MD-NC-NH-NJ-NY-PA-RI-SC-VA

The 2013, 13 Colonies stations will operate from 09:00 AM Eastern Daylight Savings Time (1300Z),on July 1st, to 12:00 PM (midnight) Eastern Daylight Savings Time, July 6 (0400Z, July 7)

There will be at least two S.E. stations per colony state. Also included will be Super contest stations, multi-operator Club stations and OM & XYL teams

The total QSO count for 2012 was 62,079 - expect MORE in 2013!

The theme for 2013 will be "Banners of the Revolution". The certificate is printed on heavy card stock. Stations working one state or, as many as all 13, will be eligible for the certificate. A "Clean Sweep" indicator will be affixed, for those lucky enough to "Q" all 13. A special endorsement will be attached for stations contacting our sister operation, WM3PEN, in Philadelphia, PA.

I'm looking forward to it!  Last year's 13 Colonies was a bundle of fun.  A lot of the stations had really good operators, and  some of the special QSL cards are really nice.  The people who organize this do a great job.  13 Colonies = fun!

This is a great event. As others have noted ... well run and the OPS are fantastic.  It is a blast to participate.

I'm sure there will again be a reflector with stations 'heard' ... as best as possible.

I see one BIG problem. The band plan has you all operating on 14.313. Do you all know what goes on there? It's a bad place to operate.

YES, Smiley was a suggested frequency because of the 13, I doubt any of us will be on 14.313...

looking forward to a great event this year, and thanks everyone for your support....work you in the monster pile-ups...

THANK YOU to all who are bringing us the 2013 event.  I finished the clean sweep last night and there are still a couple of days to go for this excellent special event.

Well done by all involved from the K2 stations to Ken KU2US.

Hope to work you in 2014.

One constructive suggestion for next year: each state should have a single point of contact for a state QSL card. On http://13colonies.info/ for example, PA states "(QSL with SASE to the operator you made the contact with: N2MZZ or WX3A or K3MJW)". With the huge pileups having to pass along the operators individual call sign takes up extra time...and if someone fails to notice that, then they may go back and work the station again which further contributes to the bedlam.

Thanks to all the operators who have made the Original 13 Colonies Special Event possible. It has been great and challenging fun to work them all!

I am the webmaster for the 13 Colonies.  We have allowed each State to determine how they wish to handle QSLs.  For PA, they have chosen to not have a single point of contact, others do.

Finished a clean sweep yesterday afternoon. Several stations were seriously tough due to atmo noise here, but I worked the DSP real hard and got it done. Very fine group of ops, seriously. Also thanks to Mr. PW-1 - couldn't have done it without you !
