Worked a LY2013RMD last night. QRZ has him as "LRMD LY Hamfest 2013"

I had to check and recheck that call 3 or 4 times before I got it right.

I googled it and it seems to be a legitimate event but on a Monday?

Yesterday was a Tuesday. ;-)

What makes you think it was a contest?

Really... how hard did you look?

It is not a contest. Its a special event callsign for the Lithuanian Radio Amateurs hamfest.

Yep, many EU special event calls have the year or a big number indicating centenial in them. Some of them participate in contests. I think there are also the "Bulgarian saints" or "Lithuanian saints" calls too which have big numbers in them and also show up in contests.

I see these in my logs from past couple of years: EO2012KW, HG2011N, LZ2013KM, OE2013D, OE2013P, OE2013R, OE2013S, OE2013SL, OE2013SLH, OE2013Y, OM2011IIHF, SC2012ARDF. And of course year for RSGB 100th year, G100RSGB, GJ100C, GJ100RSGB.

At the other extreme, "special short calls", EE5E is a contest call which is just 8 dits. Yes, try to copy it at 50 WPM!

LOL no  Cool

I got confused with a 'contest' because they call it their "Field Day" event and I just made the jump.
