UPDATED 07/21/2013 - For Southern California hams, I just completed editing my list of more than 70 local repeater systems, simplex freqs, and miscellaneous frequencies programmed in my demo FT-60R.

The list is weighed towards FUN and ENJOYMENT of the hobby on the 2m and 440 airwaves! The list is available as a .pdf ... or a .csv ... or an RT Systems .rdf ... or a .tab-delimited file.

All posted on the DOCS page at ... http://www.k6lcs.com

There are several sources for So CA repeater info - online and in print.

The reason I started making up this So CA-specific list was back in 2004, when the FT-60R was released. Gordon West and I got together, and we started pre-programming HTs for new hams as I worked at HRO-Anaheim.

Because what the published repeater lists do NOT tell you is whether or not the repeater is active. Nor is there an option to indicate whether or not they welcome new hams. I really do not want a new ham to begin his/her repeater activity by hearing a signal report, "Well, there's one or two per cent of white noise behind you, can you improve that ... ' - IMHO, snobby attitudes have no place in the hobby.

SO ... is my list all-inclusive? Absolutely not. Have I been on darned near all of the systems listed in the past year or so, and found them to be welcoming to hams? Absolutely! I spoke to many of the clubs' systems that are represented, too ...
