Heard our old buddy Barrak...(no....not THAT Barrak.... Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue...)....that would be 9K2UU on 20 meters last night calling CQ...and NO ONE WAS COMING BACK TO HIM.....He usually pumps in a monster signal into the US.....Last night, it was not quite monster, but it was strong enough to attaract attention.....so, in light of his lack of getting a response, I called him (again) just to say hello and that he was getting out......it really is a sad state of affairs with these horrid conditions...however I will say this....we are eeking out qsos.....albeit a struggle and not that RARE stuff we all are starved for, but we are eeking them out....thank God for CW!!!!...... Shocked.....

We need more DXers throughout the world, including EU, JA and South America to support DXpeditions to these rare places.  They just cannot happen unless there is sufficient global support.

I hear distant Dx out at about 6000 Miles and have made may contacts but the Bands are so Noisy that it's not very pleasant to do anything at all.  At times like this I start a new project, I am thinking of doing some upgrades to my Ensemble RxTx SDR.  See if I can mod it to get a 1+ Watt of output.

We need more DXers throughout the world...

But for heavens sake, DO NOT let these DXPeditions to these rare countries work on the WARC bands or else someone will write an article about how all people want to do is exchange signal reports then call, "QRZ?" when we all know that the WARC bands were granted to us solely for the purpose of rag chewing!

Oh wait, too late! That has already been done!

I was very happy to work ET3AA again--I had worked Sid but apparently the logs were lost  Sad

Just got the QSL from N2OO.   Grin

I  need to send another card to W3HNK--I was about to work W3EP in the CQ WPX contest on 6M but heard A8AK in IL18 calling Emill--turned out to be an opening to Africa!  Sure enough, I heard EA8AK calling CQ up the band from Emil and easily worked him!

It's probably just as well there aren't DXpeditions to very rare ones at this time of year.
I find the bands have become worse and worse in the middle of the year as we go up the cycle.
Or is it that I haven't many countries left to work for the Marathon, and am overlooking openings to regular DX? I'm still looking for CP and FP. Not a peep heard from there yet this year.
With less on-air activity, it's a good time for station maintenance.

I unexpectedly worked an ATNO last night. While he's on the air a lot, I can never seem to ever hear V73NS... but alas, the propagation gods were smiling down upon me and I have a new one in the log  Smiley

Too band it doesn't count for anything.

On the other hand, I'd love to see a small team try to activate San Felix. I really feel cheated over the non-operation earlier this year (puts my HR chances back at least a year) and I'd love to see that one happen. Pratas would be pretty awesome, too.
