Thanks so much Ken lol I can't believe I did not remember that knob.
I have not adjusted it in several years lol.
Do you run a amp?
Thanks Charles, sorry for the late reply.
Yes, I do have an amp, a 25+ year old Ameritron AL80A (which I like very much)
but it is in need of repair beyond my abilities. Both my wife and I are on a fixed income,
SS Disability, and every time I/we save up enough "mad money" for such things
as ham gear repairs, something rears it's ugly head, like having to buy
a new hot water heater!
Oh well, such is life. Ham radio IS only a hobby after all.....
I don't know what your $$ situation is, but if
you can wait and save up
for an AL80B instead of the AL811H, I would do so. I think in the long run it
is a better value, with more power, a very rugged tube, and practically bullet proof.
I am not
"putting down" the AL811H, just giving a personal opinion.
I am happy I don't have to go into the radio to turn back the RF power.
I hear ya there buddy. I used to have an Icom IC-706MkIIG.
Decent enough radio, but I hated all those menus and sub menus.
Gimme a damn knob any day!
Good luck building your station and with whichever amp you chose!
