Just got a IC-706MKIIG in a trade.

I get no TX on all bands EXCEPT UHF/440. By no TX, i mean no pwr output and no TX LED on the panel, and the fan does not come on. It does mute the audio and the RX led goes out.  I also do not hear any relays clicking like I do when I TX on 440. I know there is a separate PA for VHF/UHF, but it does not make sense that I also don't have VHF.

Anyone have experience with this radio and know what would cause such a strange scenario.

Also, I have tried 2 different power supplies, a linear and a switching, and there was no other local RF in the shack that could be freaking it out.

Any ideas?

Are you keying with the microphone PTT button? If you are keying via the ACC connector then menu item 30 (VSEND SEL) can control which bands are keyed by the HSEND and VSEND inputs. If the selection is "U only" then VSEND only keys the 440 band while HSEND keys hf, 50Mhz and 2M.

yes, keying with the mic PTT. I will check those menu items as well, just to be sure.

Thanks!

Have you tried a hard reset?
