Wa Salmon Run is next weekend, 9/21 -9/22 - 2013. This is our state QSO party. Looks like all counties will be activated. Check www.wwdxc.org for planned activity/ rules. The 4 counties with no one listed as QRV have resident hams that are usually on. All the rare counties will be on at some point. I will be on from Pacific, CW only 80 -10. AD7BF will be on SSB 20 miles from me. CU in SR KC7YE

I was in the  the Salmon Run this year, and had a lot of fun, and made 177 contacts for just over 20,000 points. I Was going to be a rover, but I was not really set up for it,so I just stayed home and operated from Snohomish County.

My big problem that I had,was trying to get my 80 meters antenna to work I could not bring the match down, and RF kept getting into the  radio and shutting the radio down.

SO next year,my plan is to be a rover, and go from county to county, I'm hoping to have a pickup truck by then   MAYBE

Had the joy of participating in the Washington Salmon Run Amateur Radio Contest this weekend. It is my favorite mobile contest. I operated from my truck (so I don't have my tower with its large antenna or 1000 watt amp) but I have a pretty large antenna (Scorpion) on the truck. Worked from 8 eastern WA counties (Adams, Lincoln, Franklin, Columbia, Garfield, Asotin, Whitman, Pend Oreille and Spokane). Worked 36 WA counties, 30 States/Provinces and 2 other countries (Scotland and Japan) 348 QSO's for a total of 47,828 points.

It is a great contest. I encourage everyone to work it.

I had a good time also. I wont post up my points, its not even close, but had a blast. I had to work that Sat and Sunday, I had to help a buddy, so I just has Sat evening to do that contest. I got 19 counties. Next year, I'm devoting the entire time to it. It was a fun time.
