Dave;
You should be very busy ! SKAM is hard to come by.
Yeah I was pretty busy early Saturday. It was fun being the target of multiple pileups.
But there were several other big signals in SKAM as well. Ferry and Douglass were the
tough ones this year - neither were on much. About 11:00 local time Sunday they
both came alive on 7.250 and I got them both for a "clean sweep". The best part was
simply the cabin - I posted pix at QRZ.com (too hard to post photos here). PERFECT
weather, awesome view, antenna worked great - I had a LOT of fun!
Score: 300 QSOs, 34,900 points, W7DX 500 points per band bonus x 2 (80/40), 15 states
and a clean sweep of 39 counties. I stopped at 300 Q's to enjoy the rest of Sunday
with my wife and dog on the river.
Best QSO: heard a guy chatting in Spokane about how in 42 years as a ham he'd never
so much as heard Skamania County on the air, much less worked anyone there. So imagine
his surprise when I broke in and said "well here I am! 59++ Skamania County"!! He was
pretty happy and we chatted for some time. One other QSO was giving a guy in New
Jersey a clean sweep with SKAM.
Next year I'll set up in Jefferson county probably.
