I did briefly date a ham, she was my age and met her through a radio club I was in during my high school years. She wound up moving to Australia some time later.

My wife is a ham now, although she didn't have a ticket when we got married.

I have spilled beer on my keyboard, some coming through my nose from laughing so hard,,,

From an old fart, find a good lady, one who you met at church or through a cousin or friend (hopefully no the bar scene), if she's interested she'll get her ticket, in the meantime you'll have a good life. My wife got her Advanced ticket (when they were available) in the second week after passing her tech class (KF5PL). She wanted to have the same ticket I did. Unfortunately cancer took her after 25 good years.

Current XYL is not at all interested in the hobby, but just as important, she doesn't complain about my involvement (or towers in the yard), but I must wear headset when she's around.

Best wishes on your 'hunt'!

In this day and age of ever-more and ever-better (or is it "bitter") microbrews that beautifully evocative wall of boatanchors could be well-matched with any number of supremely tasty choices.

interesting that it was the 1950's but the W3 QSL on the wall lists Florida as the QTH.
...what's that maze-like picture on the wall?

You been conned. W3HPW, I see, has been reissued, probably to someone pretty good with photoshop. That "qsl" doesn't appear in the actual ad.

Still, what's with the maze?

maybe it is a hand-drawn street map from his 6 year old nephew -- unless those are supposed to be contours or isobars  Huh
does the text below the pic indicate his wife gets him lit in order to produce the beer-headphones* effect?
* similar to the beer-goggles effect  Wink

As soon as I saw it was Burt Fisher I hit the back button. Close call as I threw up in my mouth a little.

That is a maritime nautical weather chart.

He is smiling and getting ready to be net control on 14.300. (plus/minus 10kc).

Re: W0KAN

Nautical weather charts don't have 90 degree isobars. As mentioned before it's a topo map and not of Florida either, too many elevation gradients, not to mention no tans or fans Wink

My XYL went to the local craft market last Saturday. Brought me back a bottle of local perry! (Pear cider)
No beer - she doesn't drink. Still, I had cooked her a nice dinner....
