I can't seem to create a memory group on my VX7 r.  I've followed my manual's instructions but I'm afraid there is some pilot error here.  Manual says

1 recall the memory channel to be assigned to a memory group
2 press and hold the monf key for 1/2 seconds, then press the numbered key you want as the memory group for this channel
3 now  memory channel data is copied into the memory group

Then when i go to the special memory menu there is no memory group in there.    In fact when I press mono then spcl (9)key to recall the memory group menu I press the PTT to see my memory group I just tried to create and nothing happens.  What am i doing wrong here?

finally figured it out.  I had the display set in a manner that wouldn't allow me to view the memory groups.   Geez this thing is finicky.
