Greetings
Looking at a basic 2m mobile rig with a face that can be remotely placed
In looking through various web sites I am not sure if it is or not?

If anyone has personal experience, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Doug

I am not aware of any, 2M only, transceivers that have a removable faceplate.

The V-8000 has a removable face, but the radio is not meant to be used as a remote head radio.  A few have made a connection cable out of the proprietary short connector that comes with the radio, but there are problems, and almost everyone who has tried it has given up on it.  The rig simply isn't made to be used that way, and I too don't believe there are any single band (2 meter) radios that are.
