Can anyone recommend an inexpensive but not junk headset mic (preferably single earphone) for mobile HF operation? It needs to terminate in a pair of 1/8 (3.5mm) jacks... Dave EI2HPB

Define inexpensive. The Heil Traveller with single headphone is £80.

Or you could use Turtle Beach Ear Force P4C designed for gaming chat on a PC and they're about £20.

Greetings!

Check out W2ENY's products on his home page or Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/W2ENY-Single-Headset-Yaesu-FT-450-FT-897-FT-857-FT-817-/350456827557?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Headsets_Earpieces&hash=item5198dacea5

I have used the single headset mobile on an IC706 and IC7000 and get great reports.

YMMV.
