MY GOD!  The Obamacare website programmers must have updated the LOTW software!

Did you try a few minutes later when there might not have been too many users?  It's common to get that error on the Monday after a big contest weekend.  I got the same error earlier today and a few minutes later it worked fine.

If there's too many users ... how come the vast majority of my contacts uploaded there remain unconfirmed LOL.

Funny you mention that.

Yesterday I did an update on my log. I started using LOTW at the first of the month. Been using EQSL for 7 years or so.

When I downloaded updates of confirmed contacts the LOTW file was for 2 confirmed since Feb. 16 (The last time I updated)

The EQSL confirmed contacts were 30. Same dates involved.

So EQSL far outweighed LOTW for confirmed QSO's.

Go figure!

LOTW working fine now.  Regarding unconfirmed QSOs, some users don't upload logs promptly.  I have been using LOTW for about 6 years and have a 44% confirmation rate.

Just hang in there and your confirmations will arrive.

But eQSL "confirmations" aren't good for any ARRL awards.

Not all of us are seeking ARRL Awards. I have enough credits for three awards through LOTW and so far I have not applied for them. I actually have the same awards from EQSL. Paper is paper, they both show the end results. I can print my EQSL awards for free.

Makes sense to me. x countries worked LOTW = x countries eQSL. Either shows, if you want, your achievement.

Oh I will.  Cool

I've got 45 countries logged since hitting HF hard in November 2013. Now I've got the DX bug and I have to check the Cluster hourly or I go into withdrawal.  Cheesy

LoTW says I have 16 countries confirmed. I always upload to eQSL, QRZ, and LoTW one after the other. Now QRZ is trying to give awards, so the whole mess is being split three ways, each having their own proponents. Methinks that is a bad idea.  Sad

For sure.
In fact, I know many hams that don't bother with ANY awards -- or even QSLs, paper or electronic.
They know what they've worked, and that's enough for them.

I don't disparage eQSL, or the QRZ.com logbook.
I just don't happen to use them.
Whatever floats your boat.

It also depends on who you talk to. So far I have three different WAS awards but I don't even qualify for the "basic" eWAS award from eQSL. The same is true for DXCC. I have the DXCC Digital certificate (all of which happen to be on RTTY), but on eQSL, I still need 39 credits for their eDX RTTY award!

Go figure!

If my logging program did not do eQSL automatically, I wouldn't bother with it at all. I do it only as a courtesy for those that do chase their awards.

I have about 71% response rate for eQSL, vs. 50% for LOTW.  I think the primary reason for the difference is non-use of LOTW by non-US hams.  A second reason is the difficulty of setting LOTW up, versus eQSL.
