I have a Motorola XTS3000 VHF that I recently got (for free even) from a fellow ham, and in the process of getting all the extra hardware to do the reprogramming, I've found that when I key up the radio, I get a slight background hum and echo on the built-in speakers on the Dynex LCD TV I'm using via a HDMI connection as my PC monitor. Basically it would seem that the portable is causing RFI with the speakers. Aside from the obvious fix of "move away from the screen", I'm curious what other steps I could take to mitigate the RFI....mainly because hearing myself delayed speaking on the radio is quite disorienting, I have to put up with that enough at work with dispatch.

The first thing to try is snap-on ferrite cores on the HDMI and AC power cord.

DX Engineering stocks type-31 cores that are effective on the two meter band.
