Someone is using my W4CX call.  I have been QRT on HF for the past year while building and operating a satellite station.  But I've received LotW notices and even an email from a ham who heard "me" who lived in San Diego!  I've rejected the Lotw cards.  Any help or info, please contact me at w4cx@amsat.org.

You must mean eQSL, never heard of rejecting LOTW contacts. Only you alone have the security certificates to authenticate a call.

It happens.  I got a QSL card back when I was only a tech--for a HF contact.  All it takes is one mistaken letter.

There's a number of "one-away" calls that are very similar to yours and are EXTREMELY active calls on HF CW. e.g. W4CI, W4UX.

About ten or fifteen years ago, I was getting QSL's for a while from ops who had "worked" me on 6 meters.   Only problem was, at that point in time, I had no 6M gear and had never been on 6M.   I returned the cards with a brief note apologizing for the disappointment.

I always wondered if someone was bootlegging my call or if it was a misunderstanding by the ops who QSL'ed me.

I just wanted to add this:
I am N4UE and have been for years.
I have been advised that there is a person selling at Flea Markets using my call.

I WAS N4KCM before I got my Extra call.
I can also be identified on eBay as: "radiorestorations", with 100% feedback.

Similar but different:
I sent SASE & card a Texas OM and received it back with a note:
"Sorry, I was out of town on that date/time. Neat card, though!"
I stewed on that for some time until I realized where I'd erred.
He checked only the date of the contact.
EDT differs from Zulu.
My mistake!
I log exclusively in Zulu time now.

(From just below in CENTRAL NY, FN23 lol... Never ceases to amaze me when people call someplace like Yonkers "Upstate" so it's nice to see a kindred spirit who knows what is really "upstate" Smiley)

Six meters seems to be rife with this kind of thing. I haven't had any operational gear for 6 meters since the late 60's. But, I still get a card now and then claiming a contact on 6 meters. However, I never thought that someone was bootlegging my call. My guess is that it was simply the product of a less than stellar contact. Most often they mistake the beginning "W" for a "K". Of course, it doesn't help that W7MEM's first name is Mark.

Instead of flat out (Not to mention RUDELY !!) rejecting contacts you claim you never made, why not either look them on QRZ ot some other database & shoot them an email ??

OR.....

Try to find them on EchoLink (Should be fairly simple given the amount of users it has), DMR, IRLP, or DSTAR& make DIRECT contact with them ??

Worse comes to worse - Either SEND A SERVICE MESSAGE BACK TO THEM VIA NTS (Remember THAT ??) or CALL THEM ON THE PHONE !!

But REGARDLESS of how you make contact with them - BE POLITE !!!  Remember people DO make mistakes.....

SIMPLE solutions to (What seems to be) a SIMPLE problem

Just my opinion.....

Last year some nutcase was using my call on a couple bands, notified FCC so that it was on record. Have not received any more reports after contacting FCC & filed report. I am hoping the nutcase died a quick death......yes I do.......die scum die...........73

Oh OK. Now the 'why' does make sense.

If someone steals a call to get on the air, they have enough 'know how' to take, pass
and get a license anyway. No code requirement anymore. Getting license is a snap.

And the big 160 meter loop, 530 feet of solid 12 gauge solid copper goes up this week.

First I must thread the wire through the front trees.

Then I rest. Actually I think storms pull through this evening. One piece at a time.
