Title: DRAKE MN-4C Question
Post by: N6QTH on October 03, 2000, 12:37:33 AM
I just picked up a Drake MN-4C Antenna Tuner.  Only have pieces of the original manual so I may be missing some portion of it that explains the "Forward Watts - VSWR control" better.  My copy says, "This switch connects the proper circuitry to allow the meter to read either forward power in watts, or VSWR, as desired." It's a push button switch and the manual doesn't say which meter function occurs at which position.  Anyone have the answer to this one????

I don't have an MN4, but have an MN2000, I think they operate the same. The switch marked "watts" shows just that.  The position marked "swr" shows REFLECTED until you push in the button.  Pushing this in switches the swr meter to the "forward" postion. You key the transmitter, push in the button, and TURN the button to adjust the reading to FULL SCALE (right side)  When you release the button, the correct swr will be displayed.

THIS is just great. Apparently I've just told a bootlegger how to operate his tuner

You might have saved his neighbors a lot of TVI in the process though.
