 I wonder why 2 meters has become so little used over here of late?

 That really depends on where you're located. Here in the Chicago area (EN61) there's
 dozens of repeaters and several SSB nets during the week, including one on Monday
 evening at 8pm (0200 UTC) on 144.220.

Okay George
          I live in south london and there are at least 3 repeaters that are quite strong with me, but apart from the odd shout they are dead most of the time. perhaps they are all playing on h.f.

2m is very alive and well up here in maine.  i cant scan for more than 5-10 minutes without picking up a repeater or simplex on the .52.
there is at least one net on the (practically) statewide repeater link every night.  even 148.15 has a couple nets a week.

I'm up in Orange County Indiana and the local repeaters are dead except for the ID.  Now when it's net time they come out of the wood work after the net is over....silence!!!  I think the internet is at fault. (Hey you have to blame something other than ourselves!! :)
