Post by: KC8AHN on March 26, 2002, 08:59:20 PM
I am wanting to install a radio, weather my 8100 or my 2100H (i perfer the 2100 as the 8100 has never been mobile) into my Grand Caravan I just bought. Problem is I cannot figure out a way for the life of me. If anyone has any ideas or pictures, please let me know

I have a 96 Grand Caravan and have gone mobile with an Icom 706.  The rig sits in the back under a seat and I use the separation cable to connect to the head which is mounted to the dash via its mounting plate , a homebrew bracket, and velcro.
The power is connected by running 10 awg wire from the battery to the rear of the van underneath (be sure to fuse at the battery), then inside the van via an existing hole in the back bumper (remove the plastic cover on top).  The hf coax is routed through the same hole in the bumper to a homebrew bracket extending from the trailer hitch mounting holes to the left rear corner of the van.  I am using hamstick antennas.  The vhf coax is routed under floormats, up the rear sidepost of the driver's door and through the driver's side sliding door by going under the rubber moulding to a rooftop mag-mount antenna.  Hope this gives you some ideas.
