Title: Rotor/pointer mod?
Post by: SERGEANT on December 14, 2004, 02:19:55 PM
I'm looking for information on, or a copy of, an article I saw some time back telling how to modify a rotor control box so the antenna will turn to the direction you turn the pointer to. That is, you move the pointer instead of using the turn switch/es.

I thought it was in QST, but having searched that site could not find it. Anybody know if it's in CQ or somewhere else? Or can someone point me the way (grin) to enlightenment?

tnx,

Did some more searching and found it! It's the "RotorMapic", was in Nov 2002. Now to find two additional Ham IV's...

Idiom Press markets a board for the Ham M series of rotors and it does what you want and more.  It also provides: an RS-232 interface so you can control the rotor from the PC, brake delay, end of rotation protection (stops 5 degrees before mechanical stop). I've been using one for a couple of months and it works as advertised.
