Title: youth nets
Post by: KC0LCS on January 07, 2003, 04:34:58 PM
Hi all, KC0LCS here. I tried a youth net long ago, and gave up. Only one person ever checked in! I see you guys all want to do a youth net. I'll be glad to help start one. Let's all work together and start one. It would be really cool! Why not? This is a call to all young HF priviledged hams. Why not start a net of our own? All the big dudes do it, why can't we? Just a thought. 73 for now from me Nathan, KCØLCS

I am searching for a good ORGINIIZED youth net. any helps would be great. So far the one youth net i have tried on 7.288 and 14.330 was WAY too far unorganized for my taste.

Neil,

I have not herd of any other kid's nets on HF, but the one on 14.330 , 7.288. I have not checked in to the net yet as I was contesting as the net went on…

I don’t know how unorganized the net was, as I did not check into it, but hope it will be organized soon!

Andrew

rgr rgr ... they had quite a bit of troubles dealing with either freq. drift or just stupid mistakes ... just gonna have to see if they have better luck this coming friday and can find a stable freq.

Hams of all ages are welcome to check into the Old Dominion Emergency Net.  For the HF net schedule go to the web site www.varaces.org and click on ODEN.

We have also started a once-monthly 2 meter SSB net on the last Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Eastern time on or about 144.250 MHz, upper sideband with horizontal polarization.  The Net Control is KE4SKY, located in Fairfax County, VA, FM18jt.

OK, maybe i should change from "does anybody know of any 2 m. youth nets near Canby, OR?" to "does anybody know of any 2 m. or 70 cm. echo link youth nets?"

Hi guys!

If you guys need some help I'm willing to lend a hand if you guys want. I'm an adult but I can lend some guidance until you eventually work out all the details and practical know how. I applaud you guys trying to start this Youth Net venture and I know you guys can do it.

Just a suggestion!

Maybe you guys want to think about organizing a practice run on an echo link node so you can all hear one another with out propagation issues on HF. Adding all the variables from an HF band could be more difficult. Once you work out how to coordinate it and figure out the type of process you want to take then you can continue it on the same echo link, or IRLP nodes and move it down to the HF bands. This could be done on the same nights, days or separate if you like.

If you guys would like to do this I can help you organize and coordinate your Net controllers strategically. Then teach you how to handle various situations you will encounter on the HF bands.

My information is good on QRZ.com if you want to contact me.

I'll leave you guys to organizing and wish you a lot of luck. I would love to hear your Net one day real soon firing up the HF bands.

Eric
