Title: The Art & Skill of Radio-Telegraphy
Post by: N0IBY on May 17, 2003, 08:58:26 PM
This is a great online resource for anyone who's interested. I stumbled upon it and thought I'd pass it on. The book is also available in print.

http://www.raes.ab.ca/book/index.html

Thanks to RAES for making this available at no cost on the web. There's valuable info here for both noobs and old heads.

(I am not affiliated with RAES or the book).

Great book Scott. I enjoyed chapter 19 (part 1&2)
about how Alfred Vail actually was the one who came
up with the alphabetical code and the straight key that
was used at the demonstration. Vail and his father was
the ones who put up the money for the patents also.
During the development of the equipment, Morse was
an infrequent visitor to the ironworks. Sounds like
good old F.B. was a glory grabber when Vail's hard
work started paying off. I thought Edison was the
only one that worked that way..haha
Recommended reading..

I also thought it was a wonderful book but I dislike doing extensive reading on a computer screen and did not want to do my own printout so when I saw a published copy at the Dayton Hamvention, I bought it.

Yes, definitely good reading for any CW enthusiast. He covered some very hard to describe mental games and obstacles that i've experienced (Ch. 7). Always wondered if anyone else did.

I wouldn't mind having the book, also. Might have to track one down sometime.

I can print out double sides copies with 3-hole punched in them if you cover mailing postage.

I did this and put it into a 3-ring binder.

Email me directly if interested.
