Title: Looking for cw keyer software
Post by: KH2BR on September 12, 2012, 08:58:34 AM
I am looking for cw keyer software that I can key my transmitter with using my iambic key.
The software has to have audio side tone generated by the pc so I can hear the keying sidetone plus keying output on a com port going to the transmitter.
The reason for this is that I am trying to find a workaround for a latency problem between my transmitter
and sdr receiver.  I do not care for macros or decoders, Just a simple basic software keyer.

Thanks, Robert KH2BR

Hi Robert,

Have a look at CWTYPE.
It is free, and you can connect your paddle to the PC via a serial port (or USB to Serial converter).
You can also connect the paddle via a game port( if you can find one), or a parallel port.
There are circuit diagrams of how to do it in the software's integrated help file.

Also, there are circuits of simple interfaces to provide PTT and CW-Keying for the transmitter.
All in all, a great package, for a great price - free.
You can also use it as a CW keyboard of course, the choice is yours.

You can find it at http://www.dxsoft.com/en/products/cwtype/

It should do what you need.

ok, I think I have found what I need to solve this problem. It took quite a bit of searching but this will hopefully work around the latency problem when doing cw with a sdr rcvr and a transmitter.
I will share it with every one.

I am using a Icom IC-7600 and I like it very much but I want to use it with a SDR receiver
which is called  FIFI from germany. the sdr software is SDR-Radio v1.5 from here.
