Title: Red Bull Stratos Frequencies
Post by: KU8K on October 04, 2012, 09:55:51 AM
For those not familiar on Monday a gentleman is jumping from a balloon 23 miles above Roswell, NM. This will be a record breaking event.  I was just wondering if anyone had any frequencies for this event.  I imagine most will be local freqs but I figured at 23 miles up you might be able to hear something.

If you're in the Intermountain West and away from the West or Gulf coasts, you might try listening for coverage on MW stations coming out of Roswell and New Mexico. I don't know what those stations might be. The MW band is so crowded nowadays that it's difficult to hear much of anything, especially if one lives in the cities.

The air to ground was using MotoTrbo and unless you had a DMR radio and the correct color code and talk group you would never hear a thing. And now its all over!  what a rush watching the live webcast!!

It was fun to watch the web-cast. Here's an animated gif of the capsule interior shortly after Felix's jump.
