Title: 25amp or 35amp ?
Post by: KI4HBX on November 27, 2012, 04:13:09 PM
I have a Astron RS-35M how many amps is this good for 25 or 35? How does that work when it says 25 amp constant, and 35 amp serge?

It is rated 25A continuous, meaning that you can draw 25A for a long period of time (i.e. key down RTTY for example) without the supply overheating. The 35A intermittant rating means that you can draw up to 35A for short periods of time (i.e. CW or SSB modes for example) but then must reduce the current in order to let the supply cool down.

So it should be good to go with a radio that pulls 22 amps on full power? And thanks for the info.
