Title: Radio Mart Sales is a scammer
Post by: KV5I on February 05, 2013, 03:31:22 PM
He lies and cheats. This week he charged me $30 extra for a "special" made box to send me a radio I purchased. I'll be glad to send anyone privately the mess he packed it in. All the bad stories you read here are true and if you complain, he starts harrassing you at work and threating you with legal action. Stay as far away from this alien as you can.

It is hard for me to believe that anyone still buys from him.
Don't people  do a search before placing orders?

There are a few things you can do to make his miserable life just a bit more miserable .....

1) post here  : http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/radio-mart.net

2) Complain to Scott at QTH.com ( not that he will do anything )

3) File a dispute with your CC company right away.

4) email Heil Sound and let them know what you think of their dealer in Kentucky.

5) google "radio-mart" and read for hours ( pack a lunch and maybe a few snacks for energy ) and you will realize you are not alone, this may help you to feel a bit better.

6) Post in the feedback section on QRZ.com

7) Advil may help. ( consult your doctor )

Let us know how it works out,

Anyone contemplating a purchase from Martyn should

1. Go to the local liquor store.
2. Buy a quart of Wild Turkey
3.

Instead of Wild Turkey, try:

1.  Everclear - straight grain alcohol.

2.  George Stagg - bourbon.

3.  Bookers -- bourbon.

A little of either goes a long way ...

I have said this before, will say this again. It amazes me that some disgruntled ham has not paid a visit to Martin and laid a beating on him.

It's because his team of highly trained ( and highly paid ) technicians also double as body guards, protecting not only him and his staff of professional personnel but also his multi million dollar inventory of high quality ( and fully tested ) used merchandise, as well as his valuable Chinese handhelds. ( in other words everything in his garage and spare bedroom ) .

Maybe the Canadian penal system is different and privileges include use of the prison amateur radio station.

I have said this before, will say this again. It amazes me that some disgruntled ham has not paid a visit to Martin and laid a beating on him.

It is not worth a felony conviction (or even defense against felony charges) to settle a civil dispute.

No the laws are no different here. But really, how can this clown keep ripping people off and there is no recourse for his actions? Apparently your government doesn't give a rat's behind if they let him continue to operate. Surely someone has lodged complaints to the Better Business Bureau due to his actions and how he misleads buyers.

He could be flying under the law enforcement radar because few of his victims have gone to the police or the Prosecuting Attorney's office to file charges.

It is my understanding that people cannot complain to the BBB if radio-mart is not a member ?  What good would it do them to complain anyway ?

The Better Business Bureau has NO law enforcement powers.  Their ratings only extend to their member businesses.  YOU HAVE TO PAY TO BE A MEMBER!!!!

I don't know what the definition of "Felony" is in Kentucky, but, in Illinois, it involves AT LEAST $500.  I wonder how many hams could prove beyond a doubt that were cheated out of least $500 by RadioMarty?  I don't mean their purchase price, but the DIFFERENCE between what they paid for and what they got?

Law enforcement and prosecutors, like everybody else, have to prioritize.  They have only so much, in terms of time, money and manpower, to devote to investigations and prosecutions.  I hate to say it, violent crimes, crimes against persons, and large or prosecutable thefts come first.  Everything else comes next.

SUGGESTION:  Since the standard of proof in a civil suit is lower than that in a criminal prosecution and the aggrieved parties can initiate a civil suit without involving prosecutors, enough hams who can prove that they have been "damaged" should unite and file a CLASS ACTION suit against RadioMarty, preferably in a U.S. District Court.  That way, the lead plaintiffs can draw in ALL hams who have been adversely affected within a given time frame.

Could be that this is the reason:

....All the bad stories you read here are true and if you complain, he starts harrassing you at work and threating you with legal action....

With the internet, the freedom of information act (in the good 'ol US), and the way you can find anything on the internet these days, if someone were to try to play hardball with this clown, they're likely to find themselves on the receiving end of so much harassment that they're sorry they tried.

Also, the government here is big money--and money is the operative word.  The government doesn't give a rat's *ss about the little guys--they're there to protect big money--their benefactors.  It's really sad, but it's fact.

Martyn seems to be better ( and seems to spend more time at it ) threatening unhappy customers with legal action than selling radios .

I have already complained to Scott at QTH and he replied that he has had no complaints and will not drop this scammer from his list of advertisers.  I responded that being on QTH.com helps build up whatever credibility that Martyn has and allows him to continue his scams. The same thing happened on ebay. Despite numerous complaints they kept him on for a long time.
Martyn Allison is a disgrace to ham radio.

I know for a fact that numerous people have complained directly to Scott at QTH.com but he seems not to care at all. For the last several months QTH does not even have a "feedback forum" , advising people to go elsewhere to leave feedback .....?  In my opinion Scott seems much more interested in revenue for his website than he does about the integrity of his sellers. ( yes Scott I am talking to you, I would love ( with your permission ) to post here the several private emails you sent me regarding radio-mart but I will not unless you say it's ok.

I am another ham who has notified Scott of received abuse from Martyn Allison, dba Radio Mart, after refusing to  to accept his check for an item I had posted for sale.
Scott's reply was that I probably had it coming.
I also think his FeedBack Forum was a valuable service to amateur community that I really looked forward to. It kinda let the little guy vent about obvious scammers, like Martyn.
I have sent yearly contributions (not really a lot, but probably more than most) to Scott for the use of his classified forum and services. I also had the pleasure of meeting and partying with him several years on the Thursday nights before the opening of the Dayton Hamvention, at the Hooters party sponsored by ARRAY Solutions.
As long as he chooses to ignore the overwhelming horror stories from hams ripped off by K4TEC, I will not be financially supporting him any more. If a lot of "little guys" like myself also start withholding their voluntary contributions for Scott's services, maybe he will "do the math" and determine if standing up for a thief is more profitable..........de Lee, K4LJP

It seems "radio-mart" is now peddling Chinese handhelds and Heil mic's on Amazon.com. His feedback rating is at 92%. When I check "see all feedback" for some reason it won't let me, directing me to a shipping rate page. I find this odd as I can see all of the other sellers complete feedback history. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

And yes, I plan on alerting Amazon as to what kind of a seller Martyn is.........

If you go to his feedback page, the left side has the shipping information--you have to look over to the extreme right side of the page.  Of what I saw, he has six feedback posts on there, five of which were 5/5, and one 1/5.  He still seems to be continuing his ways....

Wow, this surprises me! I had never done a search about Radio-Mart, but about a month ago I purchased a tuner from him because he had the lowest price, I received it, decided I didnt need it, called him, sent it back and got my money back...no problems, no questions asked...He answered every email, every call...

A couple of years ago I bought an Icom hand mic from Martyn off of QTH.COM. No problems at all with the transaction.  Showed up quickly, worked fine.  I do have a fried that sold him a radio on ebay and he was less than pleased with the transaction.

Well I have to say this...I have NEVER purchased anything from this loser BUT. I did sell him a FRG-9600 with the TV board in it.It was in perfect working order and was so stated in the ad on eBay. This butthead had the the gall to email me and bitch that the wall wart was not in the box! It stated right in the ad that there was NO wall wart. He complained that he would not be able to use the radio with out it.

Waa waa waaa   I told him to pound sand and that was the last i ever heard from this lowlife!!!

I sold the Anal Orifice a bunch of Collins Gear that was described as for parts and repair that I had on eBay and he asked me to close all the auctions because he wanted it all. We agreed on a price and he paid via PayPal. When he recevied all the gear he said it was all junk and wanted half of his money back I told him no ship it back at your expence and I would repay him less the shipping costs. Never heard from him again. I did see some of the equipment on eBay the following week that I know was not working listed as "Near Perfect" and "Like New" of course his other eBay identiy "Gottohaveit" (or somthing like that) won most of it because he bid it up so high nobody wanted it. If you buy from him or sell to him he will try every way to rip you off in any way he can. Maybe I should call him at say 10PM (3AM EDT) my time to see if he has anything I might need.
