Title: frequency separation
Post by: AC2EU on March 02, 2013, 07:34:10 PM
I'm new to CW and I was wondering what is considered the proper acceptable separation away from other QSOs.
Is it 1KHZ?

That would be a reasonable number.  You might have to work up closer during a busy contest, but 1KHz would be fine most of the time.

My philosophy is:  If you can hear them, they can hear you.  Move a bit more.

Sure, there's different filters.....bandwidth of each receiver.....etc, but, I find the above the best way to avoid interference to me.

This is me but I usually open up the bandwidth to 1 kHz and if do not hear anyone then I call. Later I can always narrow my filter.
